I woke up this fine Sunday morning to children playing the Wii and fighting over it. I promptly had them shut it off. They then decided to do "big shoe races" in which each child must wear a pair of their parents' shoes and then race around the house (where do they come up with this stuff?). Needless to say, this lasted but a moment before fighting once again ensued due to claims of cheating, etc. Next on the agenda... a punch out championship between the boys while Marinne pouts in her room. I would like you, the reader, to provide some creative ideas for Sabbath activities other than the ones my kids came up with today. Thanks!

faerie tale theatre marathon... or pull out the big guns with clown white.
they are due is up for their own Hammond Children's theatre. This really is the best because the event of watching it and mocking it still provides an activity years later. We also enjoyed fort making, mailman, store, dentist/doctor (yes I have brushed Amy's teeth for her...you can probably guess whether she ever got around to her brushing any of our teeth.) and of course...SATURDAY'S WARRIORS!!!
I remember those days. Now my kids sleep on Sundays. But back when they were smaller we had a letter writing time to write to missionaries and family members. I remember one time I made them watch that old church movie
"The mail box" then they wrote a letter to Grandma Smith. Probably torture to my kids!!!!
sounds just like my kids! We like to break out The Friend and read stories and do the little activites in there.
I love the Faerie tale theatre and Saturday's Warriors ideas! You can't go wrong there.
Let's see, we watch the MoTab and dance on the coffee table when we remember that they're on, we go on lots of walks/races around the neighborhood on bikes or scooters or on foot. We cook lots. Mine love to help cook, but they're girls. I don't know how to entertain boys yet. Maybe a horsey ride on daddy? Yeah! There you go! PAss the buck! This is totally RAY's job.
My personal favorite sabbath activity was dressing you all up and making you stand still while I took pictures of all of you. (So everyone would know what perfect children I had)Another thing that really prevents ANY bad behavior is having the guilty child stand with his nose on the wall. (A girl on tv last night actually called it abuse to make a child stand with their nose on the wall. Dad promptly shouted at the tv that everybody does that!)
-We were able to watch the Living Scriptures cartoons of Book of Mormon and Old/New Testament stories.
-We also could "study nature" ie. jump on the tramp
-Maybe get them activity books, etc. that they could only do on Sundays?
Hi! I just came across your blog. I think we can all relate to this post. My kids like any craft project. We even have a family devotional on Sunday mornings, pretty much like FHE only shorter. We sing songs, have a short lesson/message. Your kids are old enough that they can prepare the lesson on their own. My kids love to tell stories using the flannel board or pictures they have drawn. Good luck!
